I guess this is 1992-93 without the midseason coaching change and broken ankle, right? I guess this diseased season that can’t end too soon would be the second-most disappointing in a 99-season franchise history. Except 1975-76 might belong there. If you are looking for omens, then you are hanging on the 1991-92/1992-93/1993-94 whiplash effect in which the Blueshirts went from Presidents’ Trophy winners to failing to qualify for the playoffs the next season to winning the Stanley Cup the following year.
