LOS ANGELES – Francisco Alvarez’s left thumb was an issue earlier this week, and on Friday, it forced him to leave the game. The Mets catcher slipped rounding first base in the second inning at Dodger Stadium, placing full weight on the thumb. He was in obvious discomfort running toward second and then thrust the thumb into the bag during a headfirst dive.
